The Perfectly Planned Animal Kingdom Day

The day that flowed so well.

We pull into AK car park at around 7.50am.

“You’re on holiday why are you awake so early?!”

There is too much excitement to stay in bed, too much fun to be had, too much adventure, my goodness the latest we can stay in bed is 8.30am and that’s late. I know everyone is different but that’s what we love!

Instead of taking the tram we walk along to the Animal Kingdom gates tapping our magic bands and stepping into the park. The smell, like it’s rained the night before, the trees, the nature.

8.15am - Na’vi River Ride

We head straight to Pandora and walked straight on Na’vi River Ride the line took about 10 minutes before we got in our boat. The ride is incredible, simple but the colours and atmosphere are enchanting. The perfect way to start a day!

We took some time to walk around Pandora, took some pictures, enjoyed the incredible scenery with not so many guests about. Even at this time the Flight of Passage line is around 2.5 hours!

Making our way to Africa to board our Safari to The Kilamanjaro. The morning is a great time for a safari so many animals out and about! Zebras, Lions, Elephants and Giraffes all in perfect view across the Savannah.

8.45am - Breakfast

Ok, now we’re getting a little hungry. Breakfast is in Africa at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. Colossal Cinnamon Roll and a coffee, sat watching the dancers do their thing. It is such a good atmosphere, the music, the dancing.

10am - Festival of the Lion King.

Animal Kingdom for sure has the best shows around! This festival is fun, energetic and the perfect way to cool down. We sat in the Giraffe section. Anyone know how to make a giraffe sound? No, me either.

10.45am - Expedition Everest

Time for an epic adventure, we trekked across to expedition Everest.

DISCLAIMER: I LOVE THIS RIDE.

I love the theming as you walk through the ride, the real feeling that you’re embarking on an expedition to find a Yeti, I love the carriage, the story, the views, the 80ft drop!

We rode Expedition a few times as the line was only around 10 minutes, with the new Pandora area of the park it has knocked a lot of wait time off of Everest (Great for us!).

*Did You Know? - If Expedition Everest was 1 foot taller it would have to have a red flashing light on it as per aviation authority!*

12pm -Finding Nemo The Musical

Now onto our second favourite show, The Midday showing off Finding Nemo the musical. We spend the beginning of the show trying to do our best Australian accents.

During the show I look over too my left. Yup, my dad has his eyes closed. I guess nemo is not his thing.

12.45pm Its tough to be a bug.

Another great show, even the walk up to the theatre is beautiful, take your time as you walk through the trees and look at all the hand carvings.

1pm - Window Shopping

Time for some window shopping at Island Mercantile. This shop always has the nicest things compared to others at Disney.

1.20pm - Back to Pandora for our Flight of Passage FastPass+

A must do!& A Must-have FastPass+ Reservation. Disney, you really nailed it with this one.

I have to admit the first time I watched Avatar when it first came out I fell asleep half way through…it is such a long movie. But after visiting Pandora I decided to give the movie another shot, and i’m glad I did! I fully watched it from beginning to end and I cannot believe the similarity and attention to detail! The storyline made me laugh, cry and be on the edge of my seat the entire time! I definitely recommend watching it in your movie countdown to Disney List!

2pm - Lunch

Decided to have lunch at Su’ali Canteen in Pandora,

It’s definitely a change from burger and fries but it was so good. The land is truly mesmerizing.

2.20pm - DinoLand

We headed over to Dinoland to ride Dinosaur, this has to be a must-do at Animal Kingdom. I feel its gets overlooked by so many! Definitely a classic in my opinion, but fair warning it is scary!

3pm - Time to head to the Cozy Cone Pool for a rest this afternoon.

You can stay in parks the whole day which we sometimes we do love to do. But there's nothing better than going back for a rest and nap and returning back to a different park to spend the evening!

Like this day, your day doesn’t have to be planned to perfection. Just plan your FastPass+ and wing the rest of the day if you like. Just make sure to grab your FastPasses either 60 days out if your staying on property or 30 days out if not. Super important to save a lot of waiting time.

If you want to plan your day, including FastPass+ reservations and Meal locations for the day then you can download the Disney Day Planner for FREE
